Serving lovely New Paltz, NY

In 1677, French Protestants purchased 40,000 acres of land near the Wallkill River from the Esopus tribe. This land came to be called the New Paltz Patent. The area’s soil proved fertile for vineyards, which are still prominent in the region today. New Paltz was incorporated as a town in 1887. In addition to having some of the best hiking trails, biking opportunities, and gorgeous natural viewing in the region, New Paltz is also home to many trendy local shops and restaurants. Some of the area’s top attractions include:

• Water Street Market, New Paltz’s marketplace of local merchants
• Shawangunk Wine Trail, featuring 13 wineries
• Wallkill Valley Rail Trail, where you can hike, bike, or ski
• Mohonk Preserve, with 6,500 unspoiled acres
• Huguenot Street, with its 10 acres of preserved 17th-century homes
• Tuthilltown Spirits Distillery, a whiskey-maker with more than two centuries of history!
