Exploring beautiful Greenwood Lake

Greenwood Lake sits on land that was historically the home of the Munsee people. European settlers arrived in the 18th century and began farming in the region. Throughout the 19th century and into the 20th, Greenwood Lake attracted affluent visitors with its beautiful vistas, resorts, boating and other recreation. It was officially incorporated as a village in 1924. One of the most opulent homes in the village is Tiedemann Castle. Built by a New York doctor in 1903, this manor has six bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, four indoor kitchens and one outdoor kitchen. For about 15 years, Derek Jeter and his family resided there.
