Installing Temporary Heating: Logistics & Challenges

Keep your construction project moving forward

The average high temperature in January here in the Hudson Valley is 35˚ Fahrenheit. The average low temperature for January is 16˚. And those are just the averages. Cold snaps can easily send the thermometer into the single digits or below zero. Winter weather may be extremely harsh for people working on unheated construction or repair sites. That cold is not just dangerous, but it's difficult for your staff to work in because the cold affects materials and tasks. Here are a few examples.
  • Pipes could freeze and burst
  • Paint, joint compound, drywall mud, cement and plaster will not dry or cure properly, leading to materials failing or poor results
  • Stucco must be kept from freezing for 24 hours. If it freezes before it is completely set, the frozen water in it melts when it thaws and the stucco cracks
There is a solution to these problems: temporary construction heating services from Kimlin Energy!

We are committed to propane safety and will make sure you get the information you need to keep your project safe. Here are some guidelines.
  • Read and reread the operating instructions for your temporary heating equipment. All personnel who will be in a close proximity to the equipment should also read it.
  • Check that your temporary heaters have a 100% safety shutoff valve.
  • Before utilizing any temporary heating equipment or propane cylinders, carefully inspect them to be sure that all components are in place. Contact Kimlin Energy if you have any questions or concerns.
  • Make sure there is enough ventilation in the space you'll be heating to avoid carbon monoxide build-up.
  • OSHA regulations require a minimum of 1 to 3 feet of clear space around all temporary heaters. Watch to make sure this is enforced.
  • Never keep combustible materials in the vicinity of temporary heaters.
  • The heater must be used on a level surface but can never be used on hardwood floors.
