The Right Tank Setup Depends on More Than Generator Size.
A smaller generator supporting essential circuits has very different fuel requirements than a large whole-home system running multiple HVAC systems, pumps, appliances and other major loads.
Generator rating, expected electrical demand, desired backup duration, propane consumption, weather conditions and the space available on your property all help determine the right amount of propane storage.
And sometimes the right amount of propane doesn't fit in one tank.
If setbacks, available space, access, code requirements or other site conditions make a larger tank impractical, Kimlin can evaluate multiple smaller tanks as an approved equivalent-capacity installation.
Equivalent-capacity configurations using multiple smaller tanks require Kimlin Energy review and approval. Customers may not independently combine tank capacities to select a higher membership level.
Example
If a property cannot accommodate a single 500-gallon tank and Kimlin approves four 120-gallon tanks for the generator application, Kimlin may treat that configuration as a Premium Generator Assurance installation rather than four separate Essential memberships. Equivalent-capacity treatment is not automatic and requires Kimlin Energy approval.

Generator Assurance membership benefits apply to eligible enrolled generator tanks and are subject to program terms and conditions. Membership pricing and propane rates are fixed for the applicable membership year and reviewed annually at renewal. Membership automatically renews in successive one-year intervals according to the membership agreement. The Annual Generator Exercise Fuel Credit is applied as part of an otherwise scheduled propane delivery or tank top-off and is limited to the annual amount included with the applicable membership level. Outage priority does not guarantee a specific delivery or response time and remains subject to weather, road conditions, accessibility, fuel availability, safety considerations, demand, and other operating conditions. Generator Assurance is not available for propane tanks or tank systems supplying the property's primary space-heating system. Kimlin Energy's Environmental Compliance Fee (ECF), currently $15.99 per delivery, applies to fuel deliveries, including a delivery on which an Annual Generator Exercise Fuel Credit is applied. The ECF covers spill-prevention equipment, containment, and the regulatory reporting required on every delivery. The Annual Generator Exercise Fuel Credit applies to eligible propane gallons and does not waive the ECF. Customer-owned equipment must meet Kimlin Energy safety, condition, accessibility, and serviceability requirements. Enrollment and customer-owned-tank pricing are subject to Kimlin Energy approval. Generator Assurance pricing applies only to the eligible propane system enrolled in the program and does not establish pricing for other propane tanks, accounts, heating systems, or services.
